I recently added a new cocktail book to my collection -- The Way of the Cocktail. This book is full of amazing insights, beautiful photos, and delicious recipes. Here is a simplified version of Julia Momosé’s Elderflower Sour, using ingredients on hand.
1 oz bourbon
0.5 oz saké
0.5 oz elderflower liqueur
dash of lemon juice
dash of simple syrup*
1 egg white
dash of Angostura bitters
Mix together all ingredients through egg white in a shaker. Shake to aerate, then add ice and shake to cool. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with dash of bitters.
Cheers!
*To make simple syrup - mix one hot water (not boiling) with one part sugar until sugar is dissolved and cool.
